Farouk Magaji Bello is the Manager, Demand Jobs and Livelihoods in Nigeria for the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet. Prior to this position, he was a Principal Manager in the Consumer Affairs Division at the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission responsible for regulatory compliance matters that affect electricity consumers in Nigeria.
Prior to that he was an Energy Access Specialist at the World Bank where he was a member of the Nigeria Energy Team responsible for the flagship $350 million Nigeria Electrification Project, the Rural Off-grid Electrification Project, a $300 million project working with ECREEE to electrify primary healthcare centers with solar home systems in 19 West African countries.
Before joining the World Bank, he was the Projects Execution Lead at eN Consulting & Projects Ltd (Developers of 100 mw solar on-grid power plants in Jigawa and Kaduna States of Nigeria) where he was mainly in charge of on the ground stakeholder engagements with community leaders, plant engineering, regulatory affairs and supervising the execution of ESIA, LRP and other PPA requirements.
Farouk has over 13 years experience working in the sub-Saharan Africa renewable energy access and transition sectors.
