We work for a world where everyone has access to clean electricity and the means to use it to improve their lives.

Abundant, reliable, clean electricity is essential for a resilient planet and a secure and prosperous future. Yet today, 685 million people live without electricity. Billions live with access that is unaffordable and unreliable.

Together, we can change this.

Global Energy Alliance

Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet builds transformative public, private, philanthropic partnerships to end energy poverty and accelerate green economic opportunity.

Founded in 2021 by The Rockefeller Foundation, IKEA Foundation and Bezos Earth Fund, we work in more than 30 countries to unlock finance, strengthen institutions and transform markets, delivering progress that goes beyond individual projects to drive lasting systems change.

Through our two interconnected global pillars, Grids of the Future – focused on innovation and infrastructure – and Powering Opportunity – with a focus on jobs and livelihoods – we work toward our vision: a world where everyone has access to affordable, reliable, clean electricity and the means to use it to improve their lives.

Change Energy, Change Lives

Clean energy has the power to transform lives. When paired with the right investments, equipment and training, it creates jobs, improves health and education, makes families safer and helps communities – and countries – to thrive.

Working as an Alliance, we put people at the heart of everything we do. These are the stories of their success.

Our reach

We work where we can make the biggest difference. Our work is anchored in four global regions – Africa, India, Southeast Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. We support projects in more than 20 countries. In many places, we partner closely with local communities and organizations.

In this way, our work is globally connected and locally anchored.
