Indonesia

Contribute to Indonesia’s green growth and accelerate the deployment of renewables to realize its energy transition goals

National ambitions for a green energy future

Elevating and amplifying RE initiatives to achieve Indonesia’s 2030 energy goals and 2050 net-zero commitment.

GEAPP is enabling public–private-philanthropic partnerships for the scale up of renewable energy access in remote islands across Indonesia, driving e-mobility solutions, and showcasing productive uses of energy to communities.

Solutions for Indonesia

De-Dieselization Efforts

GEAPP supports Indonesia’s De-Dieselization Program, aiming to convert 5,200 diesel power plants to renewable energy. The initiative aims to minimize the dependence on conventional fuels, increase the share of renewables in the energy mix, and improve reliability while reducing electricity costs. We are also providing planning support to build hundreds of megawatts of Solar PV and BESS for last-mile communities in remote areas.

Displacing Coal with Renewable Energy

Design, test and later scale transformative approach to phasing out coal and replacing it with RE by providing catalytic capital that mobilises additional funding, and supporting in creating a conducive enabling environment.

Just Energy Solutions

Ensuring the energy transition is just, equitable and inclusive by focusing positive impacts on women, youth and marginalized communities.

Scaling up Solar and Wind

The Tembesi Floating Solar Power Plant will play a critical role in advancing Indonesia’s national strategy to reduce reliance on conventional fuels and diversify its energy mix by providing 30 MW of renewable energy to Batam City, with the potential to expand to 333 MW. Tanah Laut is Indonesia’s first utility-scale wind power plant with a capacity of 70 MW integrated with a 10 MW/10 MWh BESS. These projects not only benefit communities with the provision of affordable and sustainable electricity and employment opportunities, they also serve as a blueprint for scalable and replicable green energy projects.

PLN has committed to achieve net zero emission and became the leader in Indonesia’s just energy transition. PLN acclaims this leadership responsibility and embraces global collaborations in the process. Working together with GEAPP signifies PLN’s commitment to clean energy and exemplifies collaborative actions taken by PLN to accelerate energy transition in Indonesia.

Let’s change energy

in remoteisland communities

In Kawa Village, Maluku, a solar-powered icemaker is doing more than just preserving fish—it is empowering local fishers to extend their fishing hours, boost their supply, and maintain quality. This innovative solution, a prime example of Productive Uses of Energy, is already translating into improved incomes and enhanced food security. GEAPP is partnering with PLN and other key stakeholders to ensure that more villages gain access to affordable, green power that supports sustainable livelihoods and strengthens local businesses.
