Jakarta, 21 November – The Government of Indonesia (GoI) launched the Comprehensive Investment & Policy Plan (CIPP) today. This significant achievement is a step forward in Indonesia’s journey towards sustainable energy transition. The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) together with its partner Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is supporting the initiative through resource mobilization.

The CIPP is a result of the collaborative and inclusive efforts between the GoI, IPG, and various organizations within the four working groups, and with feedback from various external stakeholders. GEAPP has provided support for this initiative since last year, starting with the provision of resources to the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment and Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, from the initial preparation to the establishment of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) Secretariat. This support has since been extended to the financing and technical working groups leading up to the launch of the CIPP today. GEAPP also facilitates public consultations with various Civil Society Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, and private sector players.

The CIPP will play an instrumental role in positively contributing to Indonesia’s economy and ensuring energy affordability; guaranteeing energy security and stability, while ensuring a just transition; ensuring energy sustainability; and maintaining long-term financial sustainability for Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) and subsidiaries.

The CIPP aligns with GEAPP’s overarching goals of accelerating the energy transition and improving energy access. The Alliance aims to enhance both public and private capacity to effectively plan and implement the JETP. By providing embedded capacity and expert support, GEAPP will assist in building and upskilling critical institutions involved in delivering the JETP.

“GEAPP believes that continued cooperation and shared expertise can significantly advance Indonesia’s energy transition and bring about positive change for the environment and for future generations of Indonesians. We take this opportunity to reiterate our dedication to supporting renewable energy initiatives and congratulate all parties involved in the CIPP for their hard work, commitment, and visionary leadership,” says Kitty Bu, Vice President, GEAPP – Southeast Asia.

“We at GEAPP are happy that this initiative has come to actualization. We will continue to support the JETP Secretariat and the GoI – a testament to our belief in how important this initiative is for the country,” said Lucky Nurrahmat, Indonesia Country Lead at GEAPP.

As an organization dedicated to fostering energy transition in emerging economies, GEAPP recognizes the importance of the CIPP in setting a benchmark for future energy policies and investments. This plan not only underscores Indonesia’s commitment to a greener future but also serves as a blueprint for other nations striving towards energy transition.
