Sarah Kanda

Manager, Demand, Jobs and Livelihoods

Sarah Kanda is a Manager, Demand Jobs and Livelihoods based in Nairobi, Kenya. Her work entails supporting GEAPPs mission towards enabling rural communities to benefit from the full benefits of reliable electricity by promoting productive use of energy. She is also supporting the gender, equality and social inclusion work within GEAPP.

Sarah has close to a decade in years of experience in the energy access sector managing and supporting diverse programs and projects ranging from rural electrification for health and education, early stage minigrid development, productive use of energy as well as e-mobility. Sarah has also provided technical assistance to early stage and growth stage MSMEs in Africa, helping them to refine or evaluate their business models, develop their go-to market strategies and value propositions, and identifying potential funding. Sarah also had a short stint working in the carbon market sector, developing carbon credits for various companies implementing clean cooking and water filtration projects in Africa and Asia.

Prior to joining GEAPP, Sarah worked as a Project Manager at Energy 4 Impact/Mercy Corps and Viability Africa/ Energy Ltd.

Sarah Kanda holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Resource Conservation from Kenyatta University and an ongoing Masters in Renewable Energy Technology at Kenyatta University. She also a certified Project Manager under PRINCE2 and has taken the Women in Leadership program with Mercy Corps.
