Darway Coast, All On, GEAPP, others announce the completion of 500KW Solar Mini Grid Project in Ibaragun Community

06 March 2025 – Ogun State, Nigeria

Darway Coast, this week, with its partners – All On, Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) and others- commemorate the official launch of the Ibaragun mini-grid projects. The Ibaragun community in Ogun State are about to witness a significant transformation in its energy access with the inauguration of a 500KW power community from a recently installed solar mini-grid. The Ibaragun isolated mini-grid, financed by All On through its DART program and developed by Darway Coast, aims to provide consistent and eco-friendly electricity, thus enhancing economic growth and improving the residents’ quality of life. With its 500KW capacity, the Ibaragun mini-grid is engineered to deliver dependable electricity to its host community. At the same time, its use of solar power significantly curtails carbon dioxide emissions, promoting environmental sustainability.

All On’s dedication to tackling the persistent electricity challenges in the region through innovative financing products for pioneering renewable energy solutions is evident in this project. This initiative aims to bridge the energy gap by backing indigenous developers like Darway Coast in deploying mini-grids across underdeveloped areas.

The Ibaragun mini-grid exemplifies how clean energy can boost productivity and enhance the quality of life for rural communities. By delivering cost-effective and reliable electricity, this project paves the way for economic development and provides vital support to local businesses, public institutions, and residents.

Darway Coast, as an indigenous renewable energy company, is committed to providing sustainable energy solutions that enhance productivity in both rural and urban settings. Their work in Ibaragun underscores their expertise and dedication to improving energy access in some of Nigeria’s most underserved regions. According to Darway Coast CEO Henry Ureh, “the completed Ibaragun mini-grid project will deliver immediate and lasting benefits to the community through reliable, clean energy.”

All On’s CEO, Caroline Eboumbou, states that  “All On continues to be devoted to fostering the development of sustainable energy infrastructure across the region, with the goal of fueling economic growth, enhancing livelihoods, and reducing the environmental impact of energy consumption.”

Fauzia Okediji, Manager, Utility Innovation at GEAPP, also said, “The Ibaragun mini-grid demonstrates that transformative impact is possible when collective ambition, capital, and innovative technologies align. Our alliance approach boosts energy access and drives climate-aligned growth. Through initiatives like our DART programme, we are scaling distributed renewable energy solutions (DRE) and supporting developers in delivering impactful and community-led energy projects. Together, we are contributing to an Africa-led energy transition that empowers businesses and industries – creating economic opportunities across Nigeria and the continent.”
