- GEAPP is an alliance of 20+ partners working to unlock renewable energy access in emerging economies.
- To be held from 1 – 3 November, alongside India’s presidency of G20, TETD will be a culmination of 24 months of collaborative action.
- TETD will witness launch of new initiatives to accelerate clean energy transition in emerging economies.
The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) in partnership with the Observer Research Foundation (ORF) is organizing the inaugural edition of The Energy Transition Dialogues (TETD) from 1 – 3 November, 2023 at Hyatt Regency, New Delhi.
TETD will be delivered through focused deliberations on experiences gathered through programs around six thematic pillars: enhancing RE/BESS to achieve 50GW per annum; scaling up energy efficiency; utility modernization; decarbonization of transport; people positive energy transition, and clean energy financing. The event will present a joint communiqué, which will serve as a roadmap for clean energy transitions through cross-sectoral collaborations.
“India’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2070 has been recognized by the world as leading by example, especially for the Global South. The Dialogues is a commendable step towards a cleaner, greener future. However, it is important that the transition to clean, renewable energy is inclusive and people-centric. With the largest population in the world, a successful transition would serve as an effective example and pave the way for the rest of the world. These Dialogues are a step in the larger attempt to adopt clean energy and work for sustainable development and achieve climate resilience. We hope that the unique challenges facing the country and the world at large with regard to this transition are addressed and solutions are devised during the course of the event,” said Saurabh Kumar, Vice President – India, GEAPP.
The Dialogues is expected to witness participation from over 300 speakers and delegates from the highest echelons of government, decision-makers, finance, private sector, development sector, civil society, and academia, both domestic and international.
India has made significant advancements in implementing green energy solutions across various sectors. However, the shift towards a new green energy economy must align not only with the aspirations of India’s population but also with the global community. Achieving this alignment requires the incorporation of these aspirations into comprehensive discussions about energy transitions and forward-looking interventions that extend beyond the confines of energy policy. This inclusive and holistic approach ensures that the energy transition benefits all stakeholders.
GEAPP and ORF are enthusiastic about uniting diverse perspectives and global expertise to facilitate meaningful change and expedite the transition to a future with sustainable energy. Furthermore, The Energy Transition Dialogues will provide India with a unique opportunity to showcase its exceptional progress on the world stage. By highlighting exemplary practices and enabling factors, India can set a precedent for other nations to adopt similar sustainable energy solutions.
