Managing Director, International Finance Corporation (IFC)

Makhtar Diop is Managing Director of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), leading sustainable infrastructure and private sector development in emerging markets since 2021. Previously, he was the World Bank’s Vice President for Africa, overseeing $70B in support and advancing renewable energy and regional integration. He also served as Senegal’s Minister of Economy and Finance and held senior roles at the World Bank in Latin America. Diop studied economics at the Universities of Warwick and Nottingham and was a Regents’ Lecturer at UC Berkeley.
