Brazil

Brazil is advancing its energy transition by expanding renewable energy access, addressing decarbonization in the Amazon and driving economic development

Brazil is making strides toward universal energy access

While millions have gained electricity over the past two decades, over a million people in the remote Amazon still live without reliable power, and more than 3 million rely on costly, high-emission diesel generation. As the country advances its energy transition, there is growing focus on scaling renewable energy, promoting the productive use of clean technologies, and ensuring energy equity. Overcoming regulatory, technical, and infrastructure challenges will be essential to improving livelihoods, supporting conservation, and delivering a just and inclusive transition.
