India

Supporting the drive for energy independence by enabling a green economy, accelerating renewables and storage solutions, enhancing energy sector digitization, and scaling clean tech innovation

People-positive energy transition

GEAPP aims to provide dependable, green power to reduce carbon emissions and to enhance the livelihoods of millions of marginalised individuals across various geographies in India by 2030.

GEAPP is working towards the goal of improving the lives of more than 300 million people living with unreliable energy and accelerating India’s ambition to deploy 500 GW of RE by 2030. To achieve these goals and transform India’s energy landscape, we facilitate innovative public-private-philanthropic partnerships across three interconnected solutions in 10 states. These solutions implemented across a critical mass of states, along with high-quality knowledge sharing and communications, can unlock sustained adoption nationally.

Together, driving

solar transformation

Since August 2024, a solar site in Rajasthan under the PM KUSUM initiative has been generating 6,000 kWh of clean energy daily, benefiting local agricultural and residential communities. Overcoming initial challenges, GEAPP’s digital platform enables real-time tracking, transparent oversight, and impact assessment, supporting increased farmer income and reduced diesel reliance.

Why GEAPP?

GEAPP’s global operating model is designed to help India’s technological advances spread beyond its borders.

  • Boosting economic productivity by installing rooftop solar and mini grids
  • Partnering with the State of Maharashtra to scale jobs in the solar energy segment
  • Funding support and mentorship in the start-up venture community
  • Facilitating the first wave of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
