Zeph Kivungi is Senior Associate driving Country Delivery partnerships at The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet. His role involves managing multi-country delivery partnerships through which GEAPP is implementing country strategies and interventions.

Zeph’s background is in project development in the areas of renewable energy and climate finance. Most recently, he was involved in UNFCCC project development work in at least twelve countries across Africa with UN agencies (IFAD, UNDP, and UNEP), DFIs such as West African Development Bank, and direct support to national governments. His experience is in rural off-grid energy development designing interventions for energy access with climate mitigation and adaptation (resilience-building) co-benefits. Some key projects designed under his leadership are the GCF-funded, climate-proofing food production investments in Imbo and Moso basins in Burundi, and the Mali solar rural electrification project establishing 4.83 megawatts of isolated solar PV mini-grid systems.

Zeph is a certified expert in renewable energy & climate finance project development and holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical and Process Engineering as well as a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Technology.
