Ingrid-Gabriela Hoven is currently serving as the Managing Director of GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH), a leading German development agency. She assumed this role in 2020.

Prior to her current position, Hoven held several significant roles. She was the Director General Global Issues at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, where she focused on displacement and migration, climate change mitigation, and sustainability. During this time, she served as member of COP21’s German Delegation, supported the outcome of the Paris Climate Agreement, co-initiating global partnerships such as “InsuResilience” and the “NDC Partnership”. Additionally, in this time, she was a member of the management bodies of the Green Climate Fund, Global Fund (GFATM), the Vaccine Alliance (GAVI), and the Global Center on Adaptation.

Prior to this, Hoven was the Executive Director; deputy speaker of the Board of Executive Directors, at World Bank for over three years. This served as an interim period, from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, where she held the role of Director General before she represented Germany at the World Bank.

Hoven’s educational background includes studies in economics and political science at Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany, and Paris IX Dauphine University in France.
