Lyza Onema Shodu

Country Lead, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC)
Since April 1st, Lyza O. Shodu was appointed as GEAPP’s DRC Country Lead.
Lyza is an 18-year professional accomplished individual with a diverse set of skills. She used to work as a Senior Advisor on multiple projects between Europe and Africa with a very good experience in projects management.
She has a focus on projects related to Electricity- Renewable Energy, Private sector development, fostering sustainable growth, employment creation, and poverty reduction, gender equality and women empowerment, to Banking – Finance- Grant’s allocation and Tender Process- RFI/RFQ/RFP.
Prior to her current position, Lyza oversaw Mwinda Fund, DRC national subsidy Fund, a half billion worth project whose operationalization, research and intermediary program have been so far conducted by her . Mwinda Fund has been promoted by DR Congo government through its National Agency for Electrification and Energy Services in Rural and peri-urban Areas (ANSER).
Lyza Onema used to oversee the renewable energy sector at Elan, and ESSOR electricity project named Access to Electricity ( A2E) which led to the landmark project “ Moyi power”, both programs funded by FCDO.
She has a proven ability to building respectful relationships with high level government members, with various partners, to foster team members’ growth , to handle difficult situations with patience and follow through on tasks consistently.
Project Management for Professional PMP certified with a strong understanding of the DR Congo’s and other African countries ‘Energy market. She has a master’s degree in economics and commercial sciences, with a major in finance, from Belgian Business school- ICHEC.
