Associate, Youth & Entrepreneurship

Wanjiru is the Associate for Youth and Entrepreneurship at the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), where they work closely with teams across the region in ensuring youth are deliberately supported and prepared to realize their role in GEAPP’s moonshot mission. Wanjiru is energized by solving seemingly complex problems and extending or creating opportunities for others to thrive.

Prior to GEAPP, Wanjiru served as a grants advisor and mentor to scholars of the Shasha Network, on its mission to close the career aspiration gap for young people in Africa. In Tanzania, Wanjiru co-lead investment feasibility studies for scalable models of boarding schools to address shortages in Mwanza, for King Philanthropies. Additionally, Wanjiru designed business franchisability assessment tools for a $1M pilot program, funded by a multilateral development bank, aimed at developing Tanzania’s franchising landscape. Wanjiru also worked in the private sector in banking related deal advisory for the horn of Africa region, at KMPG Kenya.

Wanjiru holds a Master of Econmics from Peking University’s, Yenching Academy and was an inaugural scholar at the African Leadership College in Mauritius where they obtained a BA Hons in Social Sciences.
